Your data rights
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Under the UK GDPR (and the EU GDPR if you’re in the European Economic Area) you have rights over your personal data. Exercising them is free. This page explains each right and the quickest way to use it. Our privacy policy describes what data we hold.
Do it yourself in the app
- Delete journeys: open a journey in Past Journeys and delete it, or use Settings → Your data → Delete all journey history.
- Clear recent destinations: Settings → Places → Clear recent destinations.
- Stop syncing to the cloud: Settings → Account, then turn off history sync.
- Delete your account and cloud data: Settings → Account → Delete account. See Delete your account.
- Withdraw consent for ads or analytics: Settings → Privacy and ads (usage analytics, crash reports and ad privacy choices).
- Location: change or remove the app’s location permission in your phone’s settings at any time.
Your rights
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data.
- Restriction: ask us to pause using your data, for example while we check a correction.
- Portability: receive data you gave us in a machine-readable format (we provide your journeys, places and settings as JSON).
- Objection: object to uses based on our legitimate interests, such as crash reporting. You can always object to direct marketing (we don’t send any).
- Withdraw consent: wherever we rely on consent (personalised ads, analytics), at any time.
Making a request
Email privacy@notthewrongway.com from the email address on your account (if you have one) and tell us which right you want to use. If you don’t have an account, most of your data exists only on your phone, where you control it; for data held by our providers (for example ads or analytics data), tell us which phone you use and we’ll help.
We’ll reply within one month. If your request is complex, we may extend this by up to two further months and will tell you why. We may need to confirm your identity before acting, and we can refuse requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive, but we’ll always explain.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (0303 123 1113), or to your local data protection authority in the EEA.
