Terms of use
Last updated: 4 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the Not the Wrong Way app (“the app”). The app is provided by Ikibiko Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13833535), registered office 8 Beech Close, Faversham, Kent, ME13 7SL, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
Safety first
- Always follow road signs, traffic laws and what you can see around you. The app’s routes, warnings and wandering areas are guidance only and can be wrong or out of date.
- Don’t handle your phone while driving. Set up your journey before you set off, and rely on spoken alerts and vibrations, or have a passenger use the app.
- Arrival times are estimates. Leave extra time when it matters (for example, for a train, flight or appointment).
- The app is not designed for emergencies, hiking in remote areas, or accessibility-critical routing. “Avoid steps” is not full wheelchair-accessible routing.
1. Using the app
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in line with these terms and the rules of the app store you got it from. You must be at least 13 years old to use the app.
You agree not to misuse the app or our services: for example, by trying to reverse-engineer it (except where the law allows), interfere with our servers, scrape or resell our data, or use it to break the law.
2. Your account
You can use the app without an account. If you create one, keep your password safe and tell us if you think someone else has accessed your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (see Delete your account). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
3. Maps, routes and other content
Map data comes from © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. Map images are provided by OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles, routes by Stadia Maps, and place search by Photon (komoot). This data is created by others and may contain errors, so we can’t guarantee it is accurate, complete or up to date.
4. Ads and “Remove ads”
The app is free and includes ads. You can remove them by buying the one-off Remove ads in-app purchase. The purchase is made through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, under their terms, and is linked to your App Store or Google Play account rather than your Not the Wrong Way account. You can restore it on another device with the same store account via Settings → Privacy and ads → Restore purchase.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights if digital content is faulty.
5. Changes to the app and these terms
We may update the app, for example to fix bugs, improve features or meet legal requirements, and may stop offering it. If we stop offering the app, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can. We may update these terms; if a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the app afterwards, the new terms apply.
6. Our responsibility to you
We provide the app with reasonable care and skill. Because it relies on GPS, mobile data and third-party map data, we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free or accurate.
If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our failure, but not for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or for losses to a business (the app is for personal use). In particular, we are not responsible for missed trains, appointments or other arrangements, or for consequences of following a route or warning when it is unsafe or unlawful to do so.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
7. Apple App Store
If you downloaded the app from Apple’s App Store, these terms are between you and Ikibiko Ltd, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which will refund the purchase price (if any); to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, and claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
8. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains how we use your personal data.
9. General
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else; we may transfer ours to another organisation, and will tell you if we do. Only you and we (and, for section 7, Apple) have rights under these terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your home courts; if you live in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country.
